Police are on the other side of the scale for criminals. Police in the server are supposed to be the individuals who uphold the law and are a prime example of law-abiding citizens. But I think everything I just said does not represent what the current police force in EchoRP is.

From cops wearing chains to cops claiming to be honourable members of gangs; cops in Echo are showcasing everything BUT Police Integrity. Yelling at criminals and being overall toxic is a common occurrence with cops. Police are supposed to be citizens who put their life on the line, not gangbangers who just want to bait shootouts.

There seriously has to be a reform regarding the police in its entirety. There are no repercussions the PD faces if someone in high command does something. If you are the chief of police, you're immune to anything coming your way. Shit talk on Twitter? A-Okay if you're chief. Use excessive force on criminals (i.e. using MP5's with no reason to), no worries; if you're high command you can do it!

Overall, I believe these are some of the changes which should be made to better enforce the police department, which has turned into a perfect way for cops with crim characters to get their shooting itch without having to war:

  • Start enforcing the OOC rules within the police department (I.e. If someone reports Cop A for police integrity, it should be thoroughly reviewed and not brushed off because they are either A) A liked person, B) Staff, or a mix of both).

  • Bring in a council/panel who will review claims on High Command and do something.

  • Start making cops follow IC SOP's. Let's say Cop A notices Cop B wearing a chain. Is that genuinely professional? No. Cops have uniforms they should abide by. Another example would be cops treating people like they're gangbangers: they should treat people with respect and not be "shitters".

    I think the biggest thing that would go a long way is if Cops started to show people respect. It might be a good step, to begin with so good roleplayers don't keep leaving the server for newer and brighter places.

    I'll be real with you here. This seems like a ticket issues rather than a wide spread feedback issue. Not saying what you're saying is invalid but you can report people for low quality RP. If stuff never gets reported (I:E cops acting like gangsters) no one ever gets punished for it OOC. Also IC and OOC punishments are entirely separate.

    I'm playing devil's advocate here but keep in mind it is RP and it is a game where people are meant to and encouraged to have fun and goof off a bit. If every cop acts like they have a stick up their ass then it's going to lead to more bland interactions between cops and cobs/crims.

    Looks like you're roping all cops in with the few that do the things you've listed. I feel like the majority of cops on the server carry themselves with respect for those around them and don't just limit that to other cops. As far as what cops wear, I personally don't think chains are that big of an issue compared to some of the other things they could be wearing, which command do take seriously. When it comes to an officer of a high rank doing things and being "immune to anything coming your way" I will say there is actually a group of people that are assigned to handle PD complaints that are not directly linked to any command structures in PD.

    OOC rules are enforced to all players on the server, including police and government.

    There is a panel of people that review issues regarding all officer complaints.

    Cops are disciplined if they break their SOPs (which are IC) and are not limited to lower ranks.

    At the end of the day, if you're having an unpleasant experience with cops then just report it if you feel it's excessive. After all, a lot of the genuine complaints you seem to have are rule breaks; For example, baiting, excessive toxicity, excessive shouting/screaming, corruption, just to name a few.

    As someone who's been in the PD in Echo for years, I get that there are some bad eggs that pop up now and then, but they get dealt with by either command or staff as necessary, and I can speak for the rest of those that have been in this PD for a long time as well when I say that we want the overall PD experience to be enjoyable whether you're a civilian, criminal, or officer and we make changes every single day to get closer to reaching that goal.

      I 100% agree that there are good cops. But good cops aren't the higher-ups.

      If there's a panel of people who review issues, then there needs to be a revamp of the panel. Countless people made reports that have gone no further than it being made.

      Cops who break SOPs go unpunished because no one enforces them. Heres an example from today: Cop A has a Draco IN HAND at VPD, posing with it. Do you think that's professional? Here is another example from today: Cop B screaming shit at crims while being chased (i.e. "pussy", "bitch", etc)

      This is not a question of a "few bad eggs", this is literal complete rot throughout the entire system. As someone who's actively been on the server for well over a year, cops a year ago were 10x better and held to actual standards.

      • One cops actions are enough to taint the opinion and trustworthiness of the rest of the cops. Allowing one officer to conduct themselves in a poor manner, reflects poorly on everyone else. Unfortunately, this isn't just one cop. I'm sure a decent list of people could be put here, of whom consistently don't take police roleplay seriously.

      As far as what cops wear, I personally don't think chains are that big of an issue compared to some of the other things they could be wearing, which command do take seriously.

      • Command absolutely do not take what you wear seriously. Go throw on a war helmet and see how many months it takes for you to be pulled up on wearing some weird ass uniform.

      • Cops unintentionally go over numbers all the time. There's no OOC punishment for that. Crims can go over numbers unintentionally, and it's immediate punishment/bans.
