"Do you know who I am?"
Recently there was a message sent on the server status page saying people cant say 'do you know who i am' when being held at gunpoint by people even if theyre a feared criminal. Take any crime show or even i guess irl, if someone is a feared criminal they make it known because it makes the gunmen think twice if they wanna put their own lives at risk by taking this course of action further. Honestly I've never really been confused by a server status message but this one really made me think about how strict some of the rules are. That line enriches the RP so much but apparently its not allowed cos youre at gunpoint. THat doesnt take away your status at all. You built that reputation to be feared, not to just be taken hostage without your status mattering. That criminal is the same as me with this 'rule' - just someone doing boosts and selling loose notes. But in reality theyre way more dangerous lol.

If people have guns on your character and your character does not comply, that is NVL. It doesn't matter if you think you're some hot shot, dangerous person. Roll with the RP, and if you think there are rule breaks, take them to a ticket.

I think you need to up your comprehension skills a little bit. I never said they shouldn't comply. They absolutely should - after all they have weapons to their head. Telling those who are powerful and feared they can't use their status as a fear mongering tactic to possibly make the hostage takers thing twice, is a ridiculous rule. If you read what I said, the status isn't stripped because there is guns pointed at you. Saying that line adds some fear to the hostage takers and puts them in some trouble (possibly). If they decide they do not care, then you comply. However, if that line makes them think twice, then it's also great RP, and they leave you alone. Read better before you talk some BS next time.

i feel like there's ways you can tell people who you are without saying "do you know who i am?" also, it's interesting to see what happens when people take the 'wrong' person hostage. creates room for conflict RP. not saying people should go to war and hunt over taking someone hostage, but a little bit of conflict would be neat to see. it feels like the overall message is taking hostage taking a bit more seriously, and i can agree that we sometimes fall into times where it feels like you're just checking off a list than taking a person to threaten their life for demands.

My main point wasnt that phrase exactly. It's the gist of that phrase. The message it sends to the kidnappers. Exactly as you said it feels like something they just tick off. Someone who is a feared criminal wouldn't be phased by guns but would comply knowing they could die. Saying something along those lines to warn the kidnappers/hostage takers isn't bad RP at all. They said it like we don't understand there's guns to our head - yes we get it, doesn't mean an enrichment of RP isn't good by saying something like that. And yes I agree we shouldn't go to a full blown war but the hostage takers being found and punished by the hostage makes for even more great RP.
