Blacklisting and At Will Employment State
regulate these as they cut out so much RP. The amount of blacklisting and firing happening because of a tiny bit of conflict rp is very concerning. Seems like most people in a management position prefer to fire someone or blacklist someone instead of rp situations out. to me it is a cop out. we are here to role play. someone should not be permanently blacklisted from a place that is a one of business. I feel like the lack of civ conflict is very boring right now. also, firing people over petty things has gotten out of hand. it seems as if you bring the slightest bit of conflict rp within a business leads one to just get fired instead of some type of tiered discipline system. for example: one person was fired after addressing a concern to the company HR rep. that is lqrp to just fire them after zero talks/discipline prior.

At-will employment is a flawed idea at its core, the way I see it. Unfortunately, with the way the law works, there's not a single thing any lawyer can do if someone gets fired from an at-will org; the law clearly states that a person may be fired at any time for any reason, or no reason at all, at the discretion of the business owner or his/her designee. The only exception to this would be if a person gets fired directly because of their protected characteristics, such as gender or race, as long as that can be proven in court.
That said, I must agree with the OP that the situation is pretty dire as of now, however sadly, due to how things are organized there isn't a whole that can be done about it.
Oh, almost forgot to add - I understand private businesses and stuff being at-will, but state agencies, such as the police force and DOC, being at-will is ridiculous. Instead of having disciplinary guidelines, hearings, Internal Affairs investigations, even unions (which is a great deal of possible extra RP for people), anyone can just get removed without any reason at any time, if command sees fit. Really? I'm not saying that's what's going on, however even the possibility of that existing is already wrong.

I feel this could be a good opportunity for Court RP.
Think about it. What would a person do in real life? Get a lawyer and sue for wrongful termination. Actual civil cases are really fun.
But I also feel like this seems like an isolated incident. Do you have multiple businesses doing this or just one? Plus, they are RPing as a business owner and have the right to fire/banish people from their business.

In at will employment states, pretty much the only things that you could sue for wrongful termination would be bannable rule breaks of the server.
Such as sexual harassment, discrimination, etc.
Most likely hostile work environment would be the only one you'd have a chance.
