Unchained Expansion!

EchoRP’s economy in it’s current state is controlled by server scripts and OOC processes. I appreciate this needs to be in place to avoid ridiculous inflation and metagaming transfers, but it kills the endless possibilities of RP and monopolies within the server.

I want to begin by reviewing the state of pawn items / chop items. I will be using random figures for example purposes.

  • These items can be sold to NPCs / Sale Runs for $200.

  • These items can be sold to contacts/friends for $600.

  • Now businesses such as Pawn Shops need to compete with one another and the other possibilities for sales to attract customers. Possibly buy at $350?

This is what I call an open market which requires RP, contacts, time, business strategy, advertisement and reputation - just to make the money. The harder you work, the more you make whether you are the buyer or the seller.

Now to the issue and what needs to change:

The state of car sales. Once again, random figures for example purposes.

  • I have a bike I want to sell for as much money as possible, as you would expect.

  • I have a buyer, a contact, who wants to buy for $100,000.

  • I can’t sell to him as the minimum limit sale of the bike privately is $105,000.

  • He does not want to extend his budget. So I have now lost the sale, and also struggling to find any buyers for this figure.

  • TUC is offering $95,000 for the bike.

  • I have no option but to sell to TUC and take the loss. Even when I had a buyer who was willing to buy for more than TUC is.

The server script has stopped me from RPing, making contacts, building a reputation and developing (if seen in this way) my business. But not only that, the server script has also forced me to go to TUC which many are now saying, is a monopoly business. TUC is controlling the market with the assistance of the server script.

This is not fair and kills the possibilities. I understand why limits are in place, but we need look at controlling the economy in other ways. So lets look at why this limit is here and what we can do alternatively:

It’s here for a money sink to ensure taxes are paid?

  • Taxes can still be automatically charged on all vehicle transfers in relation to the stock value of the vehicle. This is something that affects both sales done privately and through a business like TUC.

It’s here to ensure people are not selling $1000 cars for 10x the value?

  • Staff team can track stuff like this. We have a strong staff team that know what they are doing. If this sale is done to hide the transfer of money which is OOC and against rules, then ban them. But if it looks legit and the seller is good at making sales, then good! I love to see it.

Its here to ensure people are not transferring assets against the rules?

  • Ban them. Simple as that. I can transfer someone 1 million dollars now with no restriction in place so it’s not like we are new to people trying to do OOC trades. It’s just something we’ll have to deal with.

Let the public buy/sell at the price they want and open the market! End the monopoly. End the chokehold on the public.

I will end the suggestion with one question for you, the reader. One that will have you thinking:

If private buyers were offering a better price than TUC, would you sell to a private seller instead?

If the answer was yes, then you have automatically agreed TUC is protected by a server script and you are forced to use them, not because you want to.

As the owner of TUC I absolutely agree with a lot in this post.

When TUC started out Tom was a mechanic at CNC I just got expunged and had like 10k to my name.

I started out buying cheap cars, selling for little profit and worked my way up to where it is now.

I absolutely agree that players are limited to do this now but at the same time TUC prior to this new tax system had TONS of competition like a lot, we were the only ones that stuck to it and we’re here now.

I’d love to see something in place that allowed players to make private sales, it was fun RP for us at TUC too having to match or beat other peoples offers!

I’m honestly down for whatever is best for the community as that is what TUC has always tried to be!

I know some see it as a monopoly and I get it but myself, Bill, Blythe, Maddison & our other employees don’t care at all about the “money” TUC makes to that extent you know? We just having fun RPing as slimey salesmen lmao.

But I get it from the outside looking in we are the only used car place and we are the only people that can sell/buy for whatever price.

We do try to be fair with offerings and offer the best we can depending on the current market of whatever vehicle it is we’re buying but it’s also a business that needs money to exist.

TUC does also offer a middleman service that we do charge money for, but I personally am looking for alternatives. We just don’t want people taking advantage of that system.

That’s the only reason TUC has that “power” is because we gained trust over time from Flawws and other server members.

I’m always happy to help and change things my DMs are always open for things like this. Whatever I can do to make it a better experience for the community I will do.

Me and bill have run TUC for 2 coming up on 3 years now and honestly I’ve had such a good time interacting with all of you over the years and I feel personally that I owe you all an open ear and mind.

    Good post man 💕

Love this and appreciate your time to provide feedback on this subject, especially from the owners point of view.

TUC deserves to stay the official point of sale for a used car sale. The community can not take away the work you all have put in and credit must be given where credit is due.

I know many people mentioned another dealership but this is not the solution. Allowing private sales with relaxed limits and still having TUC as your “safe and professional” alternative is in my opinion the best method. Private sellers should not have the luxury of a website, the contacts or a 0-day limit on car transfers, TUC deserves that one. TUC needs to still have a 1-up on private sellers because it is OFFICIAL.

Flawws mentioned there are plans already but if anyone has any suggestions, it would help a ton.

Just want to clarify, this is no dig at TUC as they operate in a way that benefits them, as any business should.

But can you imagine there are now players with this vehicle who are unable to sell their vehicle privately for this price? Or even close? They are in such an awful position.

Who will go to them when TUC can offer a price like this? They can’t even lower their price to compete.

All because of a server script.

People should be allowed to get rid of their own vehicles at the price they are comfortable with, even if they are taking a hit. Just like TUC are. It seems they want to sell this vehicle to get rid of sitting stock. Yes, they take a hit, but they can reinvest the money.

Can an ordinary person do that? No.

Ofcourse they can take the hit by selling to TUC, but TUC (if they even buy it) would offer 450k, whereas he can probably sell it privately for 490k. But the server script won’t allow it.

As someone with a TUC employee character, I agree with a lot of the points here.

It’s impossible for anyone else to try and make a start-up without the same perks TUC currently has due to server restrictions that are in place.

Wanting someone to have been RPing with used cars already is a terrible reason to have a used car lot denied by the COC, if that is indeed a reason they gave to someone applying.

      Thanks for your honest opinion.

I would hope to see the server restriction lifted and the market monitored via staff as it gives us, the people, the chance to compete in the market and develop some RP!

Basically what this comes down to is them wanting people to start a thriving business with loads of good RP before they consider removing the restrictions for another business.

The problem is that nobody in their right mind would start a business against a full on monopoly with their business limited by a script. No-one would buy cars for them because they can’t offer competitive prices, as they can’t buy cars for the prices TUC do.

So basically, its a stalemate and TUC will be a monopoly unless somebody decides to run a business for ages that nobody will buy from

      100% agree.

I noticed some people mention TUC started at the very bottom and grinded their way to an approved business and now “reap the rewards”. If you want the same benefit, grind your own business.

Yes, they did. They did amazing and still bring alot to the server.

But, they did not have limitations a normal player now does. If i was to “grind” and “make a business” in this day and age, i will have to make losses on most sales & spend days looking for clientelle. Why?

Because im competing with the server limitation on purchase limits. Not TUC. Anyone can compete with TUC, its the server script limiting what we can do.

Remove the limits and make it a fair playing field. Just like pawn items are! We choose where to sell it and what money we make, let us do the same with our assets.
