The City Government

An in-city government could serve as a core function to the city. Elected officials with OOC pre-election requirements could serve to control the following city functions:

  • Sets the standard for law violations in the city including voting on fines/sentences for various crimes in the police MDT.

  • Control global tax rates with hard set minimums and maximums.

  • Be responsible for processing city events through roleplay determined systems. Communicates directly with PD with upcoming permits.

  • Appoints judges in city hall.

  • Can hold public hearings to investigate corruption in other areas of the city, question police investigations, hold high command accountable for high profile cases.

  • Can send mass texts to all civilians when new policy is passed to keep people informed.

Elections

The city government will be run by elected officials. Every X weeks an election can be held rotating out public officials that make decisions in the city. Terms limits can be created so this doesn’t turn into a dictatorship. Elections are held at city hall on election day for 24 hours.

Some roles in this government could be:

  • The Governor

    • Must sign off on voted policy changes by the council or can veto.

    • Can issue executive orders for laws, mandates, etc.

    • Can issue pardons for criminal records. Must be announced through a press conference when this occurs.

  • The Mayor

    • Holds press conferences when new policy changes are voted on.

    • Calls the house for meetings to vote on policy.

    • Approves public spending budgets.

  • The City Council (10 People Total)

    • Brings new policy to the mayor to be voted on.

    • Can override vetoes/executive orders by unanimous vote.

    • Votes on policy with a 2/3 approval vote.

    • Can vote on impeachment for any party official with a 2/3 approval vote

State Budgets

One of the primary functions of the city government is spending tax dollars gained by player tax. All tax is pooled into a government account that can be divided among various city services. Some spending budgets may include:

  • Events Budget

    • Public Concerts

    • Legal Street Racing

    • Public Meetups/Car Shows

  • Police Budget

    • Motorpool Vehicles (not pre-owned)

    • Armory Spending (armory is free until budget exceeds)

    • Vehicle Maintenance Costs (repairing police vehicles free until budget exceeds)

  • EMS Budget

    • Motorpool Vehicles

    • Medical Product Storage

  • Reserves ($10,000)

    • A reserve budget in case other areas run out of money and there’s no more tax dollars to use.

    • To use this budget, the city council must approve an amount necessary to operate city functions.

    • If reserves run out of money, tax must be increased.
