Hello EchoRP Development Team, (last one for a while I swear)
I wanted to suggest an idea that could add both a realistic and engaging element to the roleplay experience: a tax and tax return system. Taxes are already an integral part of daily life in EchoRP, from civilian paychecks to business earnings, but introducing a way for players to manage and reclaim their taxes could bring a new level of immersion and fun to the server.
Allowing Players to Reclaim Their Taxes
With the current tax system, civilians and business owners pay taxes on their earnings, properties, and transactions. Introducing a tax return system would give players an opportunity to “get back” some of that money each (game cycle) year. It would create excitement around tax refund day, adding an annual anticipation as players look forward to getting a nice financial boost.
A New Tax Accountant Job Tree
This system could also open the door to a Tax Accountant job tree, adding a valuable service industry to the city. Just like restaurants compete in EchoRP, several tax accounting firms could establish themselves and compete to provide the best service to civilians and business owners alike. Tax accountants could help players maximize their returns, handle complex tax situations, and offer personalized tax advice, making them an important part of the city’s financial scene.
The IRS and Tax Evasion Roleplay
For added drama and depth, we could also introduce an IRS job tree to enforce tax compliance. This would create new RP scenarios, such as:
Tax Evasion: Some civilians might try to evade taxes, which could lead to investigations, audits, and even police involvement for serious cases.
Liens on Properties: Players who consistently avoid taxes could face liens on their properties or possessions, adding consequences and realism to financial RP.
Tax Audits for Businesses: Business owners could have tax accountants manage their filings, but IRS agents might still audit them if suspicious activity is flagged, adding a high-stakes dimension for business RP.
Implementing a tax return system would:
Create a shared experience, where all players can relate to the “struggle” of paying taxes but look forward to tax refunds.
Offer civilians a financial incentive to engage with the tax system and an opportunity for RP around filing taxes, consulting tax accountants, and navigating the financial landscape.
Support new job trees (Tax Accountant, IRS Agent) that would bring more specialized, realistic career paths to EchoRP.
Add a layer of tension and excitement with potential tax evasion and IRS investigations, providing new RP scenarios.
I believe a tax and tax return system could enhance the immersive economy and create new, memorable RP moments.
