Metal Detecting Bug?

I am attempting to do some metal detecting on the beach, however nothing is happening.
I believe I tried a couple of days ago, however I didn't have a shovel and attempted to dig (because I didn't know I needed a shovel!), and now it's just scuffed.

I even tried a different metal detector incase lmao

Steps to repro (hopefully):
1 - WITHOUT a shovel in your pockets, try to metal detect and also dig (should say you need a shovel or something)
2 - Get shovel

3 - Attempt to metal detect and dig up

Outcome:
Metal detector has no sounds and is not working correctly.

I am having a F8 instance below, not sure if related!
