Lost Rifle Ammo after Pulling out Fly Rod

I just shot a deer with the rifle, skinned it, then went straight back to fishing. My friend told me to make sure I put my rifle away because it deletes all the ammo if you don't put it away before you go fishing. I then lost all my ammo because he told me right as I started fishing with the Fly Fishing Rod.
