Longer lasting food in fridges

I know fridges are already a thing to store stuff in, but it would be pretty cool to see that when you put food in a fridge it would last a good bit longer longer.

The reason why this would be nice would be for houses with multiple people living in them, I share a warehouse with 4 other people and often we take turns buying bulk orders of food for everyone in the warehouse, which we put in the fridge, but a lot of the time we find there's times we have to rush to eat the food or else it'll go bad. making food last longer in fridges would not only be a good quality of life addition, it would encourage people to buy even bigger bulk orders from restaurants.
