Allow partial prison time to be served out of game.

Allow prison time to be served while you aren’t in the server.

DOC honestly deserve praise for staying in jail and providing some amazing roleplay to it. However jail time over 300 months are awful and most of the time is spent spamming E cleaning dishes.

The suggestion is to allow 1/5th of your prison sentence to be served out of game. This allows you to have to log in and provide DOC roleplay but also doesn’t mean you have to spend 3+ hours sitting around doing nothing. The 1/5th can only be served out of game if you spend 1/5th of the time in game.

Example: I get sentenced for 300 months.

I spend 50 months in jail in game I log off play something else. After 50+ minutes out of game next time I log in I’ll only have 200 months to server. To then get the 1/5th reduction again I stay in jail for 40+ minutes and when I log off and log in the next day I’d have 120 minutes left to serve. This allows prisoners to serve 4/5th of there total time but also eases how long you have to be in the server by a tremendous amount.

Sentences over 300 months are fairly rare. They happen, but I wouldn’t say they happen often enough to make something like this necessary.

In my opinion, the issue with this is that it would decrease quality RP even more in the prison. As someone who works DOC full-time, I can tell you that the majority of prisoners run straight to the dishes and ignore COs regardless of how much time they have - 30 months or 200, doesn’t matter. And if they’re not doing dishes, then they’re sitting in a cell ignoring everyone. It has gotten to the point where COs don’t want to come on duty because we know it will be nothing but watching people do dishes - and then we hear “DOC is never around,” as if that would make a difference to most inmates.

So to take what we currently have, which is a method for players to reduce their sentence and pretty much ignore everyone around them, and make it so they can reduce their time even further without even being around… it doesn’t really promote quality RP in my opinion. It’s just treating the prison like a game mechanic they need to work around.

So how does spending less time in jail = less roleplay. You get more LQRP from people who have to stand around for 2+ hours.
