To Grind or Not to Grind: The Post-Wipe Apocalypse
I think one of the biggest issues both the staff and the players have been feeling is the pay. Flawws said he wanted a server without grinding, but instead, he turned the city into a grind-mindset server.
Since the wipe, the companies of EchoRP have no freedom whatsoever. Their pricing is dictated, as well as commission, etc. Any place that isn't a Government run facility or the casino is being screwed. The business committee has been ignoring the cries of the business workers, owners and even the citizens.
For example, Mecca is the heart of Mech Shops, which makes it a crucial business in EchoRP's day to day function. Without Mecca, Mech shops pricing will double and thus; Citizens won't be able to afford the already expensive internals. For a regular post-wipe Benny's order (which is roughly ~3500 material), it will take 5-6 of us 3-4 hours to make that ONE order. Aside from scrap trucks and crew cab, we have no other storage than one singular storage holding 5000 (=2500 mats). Why is it fair that workers at Mecca have to grind for HOURS just so the business can barely stay afloat, while Casino Workers make over 500$ a tick.
Going to the casino problem; Having Sass/Astrid own the casino is honestly the smartest play Flawws and the rest of the team could've made. Having such a powerful business under the care of the Sr. Admin was the smartest and safest move. But what most people don't understand is why half the casino roster are "dangerous felons"/Triads. The casino refused felons (minus Triads) and only hired a select few people who did not already have close connections with Astrid, Kylo or the Triads. And thats not even the main concern; Casino workers shouldn't be making $500+ a tick for just sitting there, staring at people, and taking peoples money to get "VIP" to the front of the wheel. People who work at a casino as security shouldn't be making as much as someone high up in PD or in any other gov. job. The 26+ employees at the casino are insanely rich at this point, and if Flawws is so concerned about the economy, he should be looking there first.
We know why people in PD, EMS, DOJ, etc make so much money. But people who sit in the cells shouldn't be making over $1000 a tick while other businesses get fucked. If one side of the pond can make it, they shouldn't ruin the server for the other businesses who want to have fun, make some money, and overall: Roleplay. Because at the end of the day, its a RP server, and it shouldn't feel like a chore to wake up in EchoRP just to work.

You say this all whilst the Mecca business has $450k in their business funds.
No one is stopping you from requesting more. Anyway, from what I am seeing, Mecca has 2 storages and Bennys has 3, not sure which one you work for here.
$500 is barely anything in comparison to what Mecca workers make, or could potentially make. Mecca is a monopoly business that simply refuses to pay it's employees.
Have you seen the quality of Roleplay? They are also under very, very low pay which is much less than $500. They are there simply for the Roleplay. Please, do not hate when their true intentions are to provide a fun experience for everyone.
I would attest that many job workers shouldn't make the money they do for what they do. $500, again, is barely anything.

Absolutely, it should not. We are making daily improvements to fix that. But a lot of this is untrue feedback and quite aggressive. You are offending other people's Roleplay and it's just not nice.

I don't spend much time in the casino but I have not once been greeted/ spoken to by a casino worker.
Everytime I have gone in they have either been standing still or talking with each other.
I'm sure there are examples of quality RP but it's certainly not ubiquitous

The COC/LSBC has not been ignoring anyone, after the wipe there has been a significant increase in our responsibilities, including managing all the changes from the wipe, as well as making the economy appropriate for the constantly changing environment.
The issues with Mecca have been consistently talked about OOC and IC. There is an open line of communication between CoC and Mecca that doesn't often get used, as well as people, including myself, attempting to daily speak to Mecca workers in character to attempt to resolve the ongoing issues.
It needs to be understood that the CoC is responsible for every business within the server, it takes time to get things right.

I agree with this. Casino workers should be paid adequately, however its already more than how much some government workers make. Being pd/ems/doj involves lots of rp and doing paperwork. If you're higher up in those jobs you're writing SOPs, having meetings etc yet not paid enough. There needs to be a better balance of pay vs rp. I make more doing a scripted job like trucking with barely any meaningful rp. I feel like this has changed the tone of the server where it feels like a grinder place than an rp first place.
I understand the econ wipe is also present to avoid grinders hoarding money. However for the majority of people who don't want to play the game like that, they're being forced to grind just so they can stay afloat. So in turn everyone ends up grinding. The people who were rich prior to the tsunami are rich now.
I grind my ass off doing rp every day and get very little monetary reward compared to being a grinder. All I want for my character is to have a house and a car. Both seem way off.
Things like the house and car add so much to rp such as having a safe place for my character to come to that doesn't have gangs surrounding it like the motels. My house was a hub for deep meaningful rp, now I gotta find random quiet spots in the city.
I hope things change and I'm glad staff are experimenting with a new model. It's the only way you learn and improve your server but exploring what else you can do. I've been spending less time on echo and some friends left for good post wipe as they felt the grind was too much with little space for rp.
I know for me I love to focus on the rp but it's hard when everyone else feels the need to grind just to have enough saved up icly so then they can focus rp.

A cadet is paid $600 per tick which is more than a casino worker. However, I don't think, in either world virtual and real, government jobs (EMS, PD, etc) are paid more than a job such as a casino worker. Sure, as you get higher in ranks you may be paid better, which they are in-game.

What does your character do? Also, it's 2 weeks into wipe, do you really think a house and car are possible? In fact, I might work on some financing thing.

The only thing that bothers me is the fact that some well known criminals are able to have a job/own a business/partly own a business. I feel like there should be consequences to your crimes just as would happen IRL where you would lose your job or your business if you have a certain history or get arrested for a certain level of crime, to make it a bit more realistic.

Crime does have consequence, if you get caught right now fines set you back very far with how much harder it is to make money currently. You cannot own a business, other than a store, as a criminal etc

idk if this is a bit out of scope but maybe show weed some love before the spring update i feel that growing was more stable/profitable it would be nice to have the plant give you more bud as other drugs are easier to make and it not as time consuming and make more profit most of the people i talked to grow for personal use and not for the sake of selling and making money , weed is time consuming and i dont mind the time to be fully honest its perfect imo but it would be nice to have a little bit more out of the plants .

Hey Hi! Casino boy Kylo here.
To clear up some things. We had 5 days to fully staff the casino. We had to hire both legal (for cashiers) and whoever else for security/valet/parking/etc in 3 days, over 20 employees, while setting up the systems and watching the economy.
Astrid and I made decissions to hire who we knew and trusted, as we should, because we didnt have time to branch out too much, and to be honest with how much the casino does in transactions we need people we knew and trusted.
Now, the Triads are felons, wooptie. We hire all felons for that job. We plan (and have interviews getting done right now) on hiring non-triad felons soon.
As someone who can see the numbers, I can assure you that out of the top 100 bank accounts in the city almost 80 of them are criminals. Only 4 of them work at the casino, and 2 of those are me and astrid who make plenty elsewhere. The 500 per tick workers, only 1 is in the top 200, and they made their mkney elsewhere.
I understand the viewpoint, but its misinformed.
Now, 1000 a tick. Theres 5 people I believe making over 1k a ticket in the city. They are judges and sacor. They clock in pretty rarely. Calling lawyers people that "sit in the cells is also disgustingly misinformed.". You can have opinion but we arent going to call mecca workers "people that just chop cars legally" or ems workers "people that just sit in pillbox".
