Part time civ jobs don’t matter— but they can and should.

Currently in Echo, there is no incentive or reason to do any part time job other than to earn money from an NPC. Naturally, people equate these jobs to grinding for cash rather than roleplay until they pick up a full time civ job or crime.

These civilian jobs should have merits or perks for doing them and should have consequences for the city if no one does them, thus making them an integral part of the city’s economy.

Examples:

  • Fish, meat, and produce from fishing, hunting, and farming should fuel the restaurant industry. Civs should be selling these goods to restaurants to elicit roleplay and give the job purpose.

  • 24/7 job should fuel convenience stores.

  • Towing and scrapping vehicles should help fuel the auto repair industry.

  • The jewelry store should not be able to be robbed unless people are mining enough gold, diamonds, etc., to produce jewelry for the city.

  • Lights in businesses should flicker or shut off if people aren’t ever doing electrical.

These changes not only make part time jobs and civ life feel more impactful and necessary to the health of the city, but also promotes participation in these jobs and elicits roleplay rather than all part time jobs involving grinding and/or selling things to an NPC.

If these jobs aren’t being done by anyone there should absolutely be consequences for the city. If the jobs still aren’t being done beyond that then I’m sure there would be RP created around doing them. If they still aren’t being done they clearly need to be buffed!
