New Garages/Impound System

In the works is a new way on how your vehicles are stored and impounded along with a new tow job.

New Garages

There will be two types of garage interactions around the city based on location. One you can simply drive up to and see all of your cars parked exactly where you left them (where you can just get in and drive off) and a menu based garage for smaller locations like a house garage or a rooftop. The parking experience will be as simple as driving into any spot in a garage and leaving your car (similar to apartment garages). Job garages will give you an additional option when you park to allow others to remove and drive your vehicle or leave it restricted to only you.

Along with these garages, vehicles will no longer despawn on you when you get far from them. They will persist until you park it, somebody tows it, or until the server restarts and puts it into the impound. You'll be able to set up scenes better knowing your vehicles will remain anywhere on the map even if you leave the server and come back. This only applies to personal vehicles and not vehicles stolen on the street from locals, they will be cleaned up by the game engine when you leave it.

New Impounds

There will be many impound locations around the map that your vehicle might be impounded at based off where you last left your vehicle or where it was brought to if manually towed. There will be different types of impounds for the type of vehicle impounded. Aircrafts will go to an aircraft hangar impound, boats to a boat dock, etc. You'll be responsible for your own abandoned vehicles if left in an illegal location or left unparked during a restart.

New Tow Job (will come after garages)

The tow job will be getting a nice update to integrate it into roleplay. Jobs will be fed to those clocked in in a "queue" like system where others can claim it or not. NPC Jobs will flow periodically while other requests such as a player requesting a tow via 311 will also be fed to anyone on duty at tow to claim. Payment for jobs will be calculated based on distance of the route from the caller to the nearest mechanic shop. Police that request an impound will also be fed into the queue, giving players the responsibility to carry vehicles to the impound.

We'd appreciate any feedback you have on the systems detailed above or if there's something else you think should be added.

Are there any updates to this? I've been trying to RP as a tow truck driver, but I can barely break even. Lose money most of the time (Thank you to whoever decided to give $25 paychecks while unemployed because that's how I'm surviving right now lol)

The only concern I have with this is state impounds. With them more and more turning into shootouts, will there be a way to have PD use department-owned trucks to impound the high-risk state impound vehicles?

From what I was told by police, the city job is considered contractors for the police department to tow their vehicles in the city. If it's a high profile car, I'm sure this will add additional roleplay where police will need to escort the tow truck to the impound lot or risk the tow truck getting robbed if it comes to that.

I like the idea of dedicated impounds for boats and airplanes but the rest seems unnecessary and also very demanding for the server, probably would hurt performance alot.

It won't be demanding for the server or hurt performance
